Today is Good Friday; the day the world thought it was over. There was mourning, tears, and sadness. But, as believers, we know the next piece of the story.
The reality is you may have woke up today with your world in a dark place too. Your marriage is in trouble. Your children are not living in the way of Christ. You have lost your job. You are not holding the child you so desperately pray for. You are facing an illness. Or, you have lost someone you love dearly. Maybe life is good, but you are in an “a lot season.”
Friends, while today may be a dark day in your heart, we know the next piece of your story too. There will be a morning. Do not lose hope. Your night will turn into day.
See on this day, Jesus stepped into the darkest moment humanity would ever know so that your darkest moment would never be the end of your story.
And because of that truth, we can hold onto this promise that David declared:
“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!” Psalm 30:11-12
So even now, in the waiting, we rest knowing joy does come in the morning. This old, southern gospel song tells the story… hang on, the break of day is just over the horizon.
