You are the one who shows up.
You bring the smile and offer the hug.
You bring the encouragement.
You bring the meal, send the text, cheer from the sidelines.
You remember the birthdays and celebrate everyone’s wins.
You notice the little things.
You’re the safe place, the steady friend, the one people know they can count on.
You pray passionately for the needs no one else even knows about.
You carry the weight. You make space. And, you love big.
Any of that sound familiar? And while you don’t do these things to get something in return, there are moments when it can just feel exhausting and, quite frankly, lonely. Moments when the love, kindness, or effort you pour out doesn’t seem to come back in return. Not because people don’t care, but because people are people—imperfect, forgetful, distracted. Just like I find myself, at times.
But here’s the good news: God sees every unseen act of love. He notices every sacrifice, every prayer, every moment you choose to show up. He treasures it—even when others don’t.
Psalm 33:4-5 says, “For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.” God is faithful. God is true. God loves us perfectly—even when the world is unfair. He sees what we cannot see, and He works in ways we cannot always understand.
That, my friends, is why I love Hannah’s story in 1 and 2 Samuel. Hannah was a woman who gave her whole heart—she longed for a child and prayed faithfully, year after year. But instead of comfort, she was mocked. Instead of encouragement, she was misunderstood. Instead of empathy, she was met with pain. And yet—Hannah didn’t waste her energy. She carried her heartache to the One whom her soul loved. She ran to the rock that was higher than herself. She sought refuge under the Master’s wings. She trusted that her God would see what others did not. And guess what? He did. God heard her prayer. He honored her faith. God answered her petition.
Hannah’s story reminds us that when life feels heavy or unfair, we are invited to do the same: to stop leaning on our own strength and instead turn to the One who is higher, stronger, and unshakable. Just as Hannah found refuge in God, friends, so can we.
So what do you do? What do you do when you feel poured out, overlooked or unappreciated? Pause and run to Jesus. Let Him carry the weight you can’t carry alone. Trust that God sees. Trust that He knows. Keep showing up for people. Your work is not wasted. It may just be the piece that impacts eternity forever.
